Nightlife in Clarksdale, MS

There is no doubt that the nightlife in Clarksdale is a major draw for our visitors. Clarksdale boasts “Live Music 365 nights a year,” and we mean it! Whether its an authentic Juke Joint, crowded bar, or outdoor seating at a delicious restaurant, you’ll find music at one venue or another almost any time of day.

While music can be found at all times, it helps to know where to look for it. Some nights are more “happenin'” than others, so we’ve put together this Guide To Nightlife in Clarksdale. Hopefully, this will give our guests some help when planning their next trip!

Every Day (except Sunday) at 3:00
Sean “Bad” Apple is a local blues musician who has opened up his own club. Bad Apple Blues Club currently has live music Monday – Saturday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. He also schedules music later on some weekends – so check out Cat Head’s Sounds Around Town for weekly schedules!

Monday Night
Mondays might not be the most popular night to go out on the town, but Clarksdale still gives guests the option! Every Monday night, visitors can head over to Bluesberry Cafe for their “Blues Dinner.” Serving homemade Italian dishes with a side of live blues, Bluesberry is the place to be on a Monday night in Clarksdale. Bonus points because Bluesberry is just a couple of doors down from The Lofts!

Tuesday Night
Hambone Gallery is the art gallery and studio for local artist, Stan Street. However, on Tuesday nights, it turns into the “Hopeless Case Bar,” where you can grab a beer and enjoy live music from 7/8 – until. While you’re there, be sure to look around at Stan’s original artwork! Hambone is conveniently located just across the street from the Lofts’ 2nd street entrance.

Wednesday Night
Things start moving a little faster in Clarksdale on Wednesday night. More restaurants and music venues open up mid-week. On Wednesday nights, Red’s Lounge and Ground Zero crank things up. You could easily fit them both in your schedule if you’re only in town for one night. However, if you are planning to stay for a few days, maybe check out Red’s and save Ground Zero for Thursday, as Red is not open on Thursday nights.

Thursday Night
Like we said above, Red’s is closed on Thursdays, so Ground Zero is always a good choice for this night of the week. This isn’t the only choice though, as Hambone has “Jam Night” scheduled for most Thursday nights. This is when Stan and friends play, and it is open for any musicians to jump in throughout the night. If you have dreams of playing a blues joint, go check it out!

Friday – Saturday
Not surprisingly, there are multiple venues to visit on Friday and Saturday nights. Ground Zero and Red’s are always open these nights. There are several others that are occasionally open, so always be sure to check out Cat Head’s Sounds Around Town for the weekly music schedule. Many restaurants have music during dinner hours as well! Hooker Grocer regularly schedules live music on Fridays around 7:00.
We want to specifically mention that Saturday Morning is a great time to catch some music as well! Guests can head back to Bluesberry Cafe for “Blues Breakfast.” Live blues music at 10:00 a.m. while they serve up some delicious breakfast!

Sunday
Sunday is more of an all day event in Clarksdale. “Blues Breakfast” is served up again at Bluesberry Cafe every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. Sunday afternoon, Hooker Grocer is open, serving food and live music starting anywhere from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Afterward, the night is just beginning over at Red’s! Pro Tip: Sunday night is the best night at Red’s Lounge (in our opinion, anyway!).
