Is There Anything Happening in Clarksdale?: Festivals This Month!

This year has taken its toll on Clarksdale’s music scene. Someone contemplating a visit might be asking, “Is there anything happening in Clarksdale?” It feels as though festivals and events have been cancelled left and right, BUT – not EVERYTHING is off the books! If you are looking for a quick, safe weekend getaway, these events are still on and would make for a perfect Fall mini vacation.

Deep Blues Festival
October 15 – 18
The Deep Blues Festival is a 4 day event that will be held at The Shack Up Inn with additional show at The New Roxy theater. This year’s festival will look much different than years past. All performances will be held outdoors with social distancing in place. For those who cannot join in person, those performances will be streamed online for virtual viewing! All livestream events can be found on the festival’s Facebook page. For lineup, artist info, merchandise, and other festival info, visit their website: https://deepbluesfest.com/

MS Delta Tennessee Williams Festival
October 15-17
The Mississippi Delta Tennessee Williams Festival is a celebration of the life and works of Tennessee Williams, his Mississippi Delta roots, and the history of Clarksdale and Coahoma County. This year marks the 28th annual fest! As one might expect, this festival will also be a bit different than years past, with all events being held online for virtual viewing. Artists and experts from across the country will host live events from the festival’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Full schedule, line up and information on how to sign up for workshops can all be found at: https://deltawilliamsfestival.com/.

Hambone Festival
October 29-November 1
Stan Street’s 13th annual Hambone Festival is still on! Live music will take place in socially distant and outdoor venues at Hambone Gallery in Downtown Clarksdale (right across the street from the Lofts!) and at The Shack Up Inn. Celebrate Stan’s birthday with a costume (optional) party and over 16 bands over the weekend! For more information, visit http://hambonefestival.com/

Cruzn The Crossroads Car & Truck Show
October 30-31
Cars, trucks, rat rods, antique tractors, motorcycles, and more! This is an open show – registration is open that weekend! On Friday night, watch a parade of participating vehicles, followed by a tailgate party. All events will take place outside by The Delta Blues Museum in Downtown Clarksdale. Saturday, registration starts at 9:00 a.m. There will be live music at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from Black Water Trio and Sean “Bad” Apple. This is a fun, FREE, family friendly event. As you can see, there are still plenty of fun things to do in Clarksdale this year. We know all of those putting on these events are doing so in the most responsible, safe way possible. We know our guests will be respectful of the guidelines they’re putting in place as well. If you’d like to stay with us during one of these fun weekends, give us a call today! We have few vacancies left, but we’d love to see you soon!
